Meet the Designer

Lead Designer

Resumes are not just what school you have attended or your client list. While those are important, it’s the intangibles that set a designer apart. It’s the life experience, the exposure to different cultures, the understanding of construction, and the ability to care for clients that are hard to measure.

I’ve lived in small town America and also in one of the largest cities in the world. I’ve experienced life on the 31st floor of an apartment building, in a two story house in suburbia, and in a rustic Midwest farmhouse just to name a few. From the time, I could walk, I spent my Saturdays helping my father renovate properties. To this day, my minivan is often filled with power tools, tiny people, building supplies, and decor. The love of creating and designing spaces is something I cannot escape; it is in my blood.

I studied interior design and architecture at one of the top architectural programs in the country. After leaving school, I pursued my passion for missions, which led me to live on three different continents and meet my wonderful husband, Nate. Through my time abroad, I gained a larger appreciation and a more diverse understanding of design and how beauty, functionality, and culture can cohesively work together to create spaces tailored for an individual.

Missions led our family to Florida, where I began to pursue my lifelong desire to pursue interior design while raising three young kids. After six years in Florida, my family relocated to Charlotte where AK Interiors was born.
